The next best thing to still getting Blueprint

Tuesday, March 04, 2008

I have a well-documented obsession with magazines and devour them at an amazing rate. During my time in Singapore, I was introduced to several new (to me) foreign magazines that are now part of my mag-buying routine, including U.K. Elle Decoration (so much more modern/cool/quirky than U.S. Elle Décor) and Australia's Real Living, whose bright, airy, charming photos never failed to inspire. {I'm finding it very hard to track down in the U.S.; anyone know where to snag it?}

In any case, I'm thrilled that Real Living deputy editor Natalie Walton is helming the Design*Sponge guest blog this week. Already, she's peppering her posts with great photos and ideas from the magazine. There's tons of décor eye candy. See what I mean?

It's a bit of a drive, but there's a really great magazine shop in Baltimore's Harbor East neighborhood that probably has whatever magazine you're looking for. It's called Harbor News - maybe you can take a road trip and scope out some of our vintage stores while you're at it??

There is a great store right in Dupont Circle...I believe it is called the Newsroom. Right across the street from Bistro du Coin, in the vicinity of the Morton's. I'd check it out...they constantly carry magazines from everywhere, and I'd bet that if they didn't have it, they'd get it for you.

ooooh. thanks for all the tips! now i just need a sugar daddy to finance the cost of cool foreign magazines. (mike, who is forced to share his apartment with hundreds of back issues of my favorite mags, is no longer willing. poo on him.)

i'm so chuffed you found real living!
It's one of my faves (being an aussie myself) and my sole consolation now that blueprint is gone.
