Perhaps I think a *teensy bit* too much about fashion...

Monday, February 25, 2008

I plopped myself down on the Metro yesterday next to a discarded Wall Street Journal, and was idly thumbing through it when this headline caught my eye: "Readers Are Long on Cheers (and Some Jeers) at the Idea of Shorter Tees".

My brain's immediate response: Oh, nooooo! Shorter tees? But I was really loving the extra-long lengths all the brands had embraced lately! Don't tell me we're back to the era of muffin-tops and belly-baring Britney wannabes! This is terrrrrrible!

Once I was all suitably riled up, I realized it was an article about golf courses.

hahaha!! the punch line to this post is genius! :)

before i got to that bit, i was starting to get riled up...and was about to say, UGH!! this is what i hate about "fashion trends"...arbitrary changes that seem to take over everything, yet don't flatter many! i remember the days of what i call "short shirts"...when knit tees came to the waist or so. that style looked AWFUL on me, since i am so busty. the proportion was so off, it wasn't even funny. i suppose they are fine for gals with smaller chests, or uber think models or something, but on everyone else they just look ridiculous. i was ELATED when longer and tunic length tops came around. if indeed short shirts did make a comeback, i think i'd officially stop shopping and give up on fashion altogether. no kidding! :P

I was just in a reverie yesterday about how happy I am that we have long t-shirts now. Michael Stars makes good long ones, too.

Hahahaha, your story reminded me of the time someone said "Bonnard" at an art exhibition and I understood "bonner", to hilarious and very “bloggable” consequences…
