Katie Holmes, my personal hair hero

We don't know what they put in the water over at Chez Cruise – it wouldn't surprise us if Tom was adding in something -- but Katie "Call me Kate" Holmes has been looking pretty great lately (er, if somewhat devoid of personality). We instantly loved these shots from the January InStyle, via the incredibly enjoyable A Serious Job is No Excuse.

We also seriously love Katie's hair. We have a somewhat similar haircut, and we're wondering how we might get that voluminous, slightly flyaway curl thing. Do we have to invest in a curling iron? And, um, is that way too '80s to even consider, or do regular people still use curling irons? We just don't know.

She is indeed a goddess when it comes to hair, clothes, etc., but if you too had Oscar Blandi and Giorgio Armani on speed-dial, I'm pretty sure you wouldn't need to admire anyone's looks but your own.

By the way, if you haven't found a hairdresser you trust in the Metro area, I could help you find someone. Just let me know!

best,
J

p.s. thanks for the "incredibly enjoyable" bit :-)

Was this shoot done pre-latest look? Because the hair is lighter, obviously, and not as regularly shaped as the latest pics.

She's really coming into her own now, even if I want to disregard any influence HE might have had. Her bone structure is wonderful here, and that's all her.

well she has definitely come a long way even if I think she is somewhat of a drone. That hair cut is so tempting!!!

I love the first jacket.

You can get a similar look with some volumising gel and a straightening iron. Just need to twist out the iron (in a spiral motion) as you move it down the hair. I hope you understand what I mean!

she does look good but what amuses me is how all these people are falling over themselves fawning over her. i mean, it's laying it on a bit much, y'know?

You're right: her hair looks great in this shoot. Let's just hope she never opens her mouth to sing again. Consider yourself warned! Haha... -the DCGF

she's a bit manufactured as a 'style star' but her stylists and team did an amazing job. she's a tomboy no more. but, really, how much of this new look is really her?
