Isaac + Liz = Strong Reactions

Tuesday, March 24, 2009

After my recent mention of my love over the Liz Claiborne spring lookbook, I'd have to say you readers fall into two camps: those who are willing to give the new Issac Mizrahi-designed collection a chance, and those who — maybe based on some repressed memories about unstylish experiences with the Liz Claiborne brand in some less fashionable times — would never, ever be caught dead in Liz Claiborne.

But, I'm hoping we can all (or, nearly all) appreciate the clean, classic styling of the new lookbook. Even if the pieces aren't your cup of tea, the chic, easy, pared-down feel of these looks is easy to love: simple statement accessories, slim cuts, a bit of colorful quirk. And on a more personal note: Also possibly my new hair muse?

Those gorgeous polka dots instantly make me forget any less-than-stylish notions I've had about the old Liz Claiborne. Yay Isaac!

I think it's fab, I really want one of those ruffled dotted skirts! And that hair (if only mine weren't curly. and red.)

They're really pretty. I have to say that I'm loving the mixed polka dot dress. Very romantic and could work for the office, too.

I love these! Especially the diagonal striped dress - so DC work appropriate!

I like the blue shirt dress. I tend to prefer his preppy/romantic side to his Long Island side.

1) Yay! You're back!
2) Love what Isaac's done with Liz.
3) I like Erin Wasson's style, but I'd look like a total A-hole wearing what she has on in the photo on the right.

I just went to macys in NYC to check out the collection in person, some of it is FABULOUS some of it is kind of just eh. I found the jersey knit stuff, tshirts, etc. didnt really have a nice feeling to them and were kindof stiff. On the other hand, the gray strapless dress was beautiful, as were a lot of the other key pieces and suiting. I got the ruffled polka dot skirt, the dots look black, not blue, however.

I completely agree. People need to remember that fashion is all about reinvention, which Isacc has done a fab job of doing for the once dowdy Liz Claiborne brand.

I really like this collection! I'm a big fan of simple clothes and this collection looks really easy to wear! I really like the two belts on the first dress, and how the pink dress is accessorized with the huge flower necklace! The denim dress is my favorite. It looks like it would be really flattering on and I really like the bow!

I am willing to give the Mizrahi/Liz line a chance. The styling is generally classic and I appreciate the sizing, as a double-digiter who straddles the misses-plus line.
