Olympic fever!
When I moved to Beijing nearly five years ago, the Olympics were a constant topic of conversation even then. All that anticipation bubbled over Friday for the spectacular opening ceremonies—just an amazing feat of design and precision and so. many. People! It was absolutely, incredibly dazzling. (Also, I so want one of those voluminous ombre robes in the first picture. Gorgeous!) Oh, and when those performers popped out of the printing tiles? Goosebumps. My teensy pictures don't do it justice, but these oversized images actually manage to capture some of the sweeping beauty of the show.
I will also go on record as saying Michael Phelps is not bad eye candy either.

I could look at those pictures ALL DAY. So incredibly amazing. I'm totally jealous of you for living in Beijing! I posted a roundup of Olympic DIY, food and entertaining ideas yesterday if you're interested. I was totally bitten by Olympic Fever.

I would love to add to the awe-inspired gasps, as the pics look beautiful, and the Chinese aesthetic can be just amazing...
but I have to say it. Of course they can produce this. They have a population at under their literal command. Millions and millions of dollars on this - and whether it was privately funded or not (I haven't seen news one way or another), it's supporting a regime. And that word isn't used for the helpful, useful kind of governments.

When I was watching I was in love with those ombre robes too! I want all the costumes they were using in the opening ceremony. The women had some really amazing dresses. <3 It must've took a very very very long time to make all the costumes that these people wore. It was insanity! I let out a huge gasp when I saw the people pop out of the tiles. I was thinking the entire thing was being programmed by a computer because it was so precise and right on time... but, it was people! Crazy!
Michael Phelps is definitely eye candy. My sisters are both in love with him. Haha.

Michael Phelps is indeed a cutie but he needs to be clean-shaven. Have you seen pictures of him sporting a beard before? Sorry to say that wasn't his best look...but without that, he now looks really boyish! Not to mention those rippling muscles...swoon...
