Fashion Icon: Glee's Emma Pillsbury
My inner Broadway geek can't get enough of Glee, this season's must-watch high school glee club comedy. (It's created by Ryan Murphy, also behind one of my very favorite teen dramedies of all time, Popular. Gosh, I love that show.)
Other than the pop hits sung ensemble, my favorite part of the show is seeing what colorful outfit Emma, the obsessively neatnik school counselor, is wearing. She's a master of the J.Crew-meets-vintage mash-up, slightly prim but always cheeky and colorful. It's fantastic inspiration for anyone who has a more conservative work environment but wants to show a little quirkiness. And a good reminder that, often, when it comes to getting dressed, less is usualy more.

i love this show. I love watching just to see what outfits she wears. I especially like the yellow bow shirt with the aqua skirt. and all the sweaters, I was thinking J Crew too.
i kinda want to watch this just because her outfits look so fun - AND it's by the creator of popular? man i loved that show.

Good call. I don't necessarily watch Glee to see what Emma is wearing but it is a bonus. I like her classic style that's bumped up a notch by the pops of color.
I love her outfits, always. I wanted to cream the coach of the Cheeri-o's when she mocked the yellow bowed shirt.
Ahhh I am so very glad you wrote this post. I absolutely love her character. The show is fun & definitely my brand of cheese but I'm sad when I miss it only because I miss her cute cute outfits!

Yes! And there's always the hope that she will be vomited upon so that she will have yet another change of clothing in the episode.
that show is amazing! and one of my favorite parts is seeing what she'll be wearing every episode. i can't keep my eyes off her! i was sad that she wasn't on the last episode....

The last time we watched the show, my boyfriend turned to me and said that she must have been based on me.
I immediately thought about that as a fashion compliment, not as a dig about some sort of obsession (mine being with all things aesthetically pleasing, not with shining grapes).
