The Post Where We Give Away TULLE. {eeeee!}

Tuesday, January 17, 2012

I'm new to women's site Shabby Apple, but they've got a retro-inspired women's dress section that is To. Die. For.

When they offered me the chance to receive and style up one of their pieces, I immediately picked the tulle knee-length skirt in white (and then bought in myself in black as well). If you've read this blog for awhile, then you know how crazy I am for tulle. (Like, insanely crazy. I never met something in tulle that I didn't like.)

It's the perfect party skirt — poufy and pretty and fun. I paired mine with a drapey sweater and sky-high chartreuse heels, but there are plenty of combinations I can think of (sparkly sleeveless top! black turtleneck!) that would look perfectly Jackie O.-chic. And at $62, not bad indeed (plus, the site is offering 20% off right now with the code NEWYEAR).

Oh, but that's not all! One lucky reader will win their very own tulle skirt. Simply "like" Shabby Apple on Facebook, where you'll get first notice of giveaways and discounts. (And while you're at it, like Fashion is Spinach on Facebook too, whydontcha?) Then, leave your name and city/state in the comments, along with what pieces you'd wear this skirt with (or, if you prefer, where you'd wear it to). U.S. only, please. We'll pick the winner next Wednesday, 1/25/12.

Let the contest begin! Our winner: Hanna from Evanston! Hanna, send me a note with the subject "WINNER!" and we'll get this out to you.

PS) Thanks to our friend and style mentor Johanna Cox for the pictures. And for insisting on the red lip. And, while we're at it, for making me buy these awesome shoes at Zara last summer, too.

ohhh..this could go super cute by day, with ballet flats and a great tank and accessories, or dress it up at night with a heel and short sleeve top.I have a birthday coming up, and this would be a great piece to wear to celebrate=)

I'm Sam from Minneapolis. I would love to wear this with my H&M 3/4 length sleeve, scoop neck top and dangly (clip-on :) ) earrings for Valentine's day dinner with my roommates. I would feel like a chic ballerina! So beautiful, I love the volume.

The possibilities are endless! However, to start, I'd go with a robin egg blue top paired with watermelon & blue/white polka dot Miu Miu heels.

Alternatively, I could also see if with a vintage Queen tee and studded black heels.

Christine, Minneapolis, MN... I think I'd wear it with my sequined crop top from New Year's Eve and then my black and white striped Michael Kors platforms!

Katie, Washington, DC. I think this would be charming with a 3/4 sleeved top, long necklace, and bow flats. Hooray for tulle!

A colorful 3/4 sleeve scoop neck top, ballet flats, and a headband. Or, I'd be literal and wear it with a black camisole for a ballerina look. How fun would that be? Irene from Los Angeles.

So, this is a bit of an unconventional response, but I would wear this skirt to work. I used to work on the Hill, and felt so stifled by the "conservative" wardrobe. Now that I work at a company that appreciates individual creativity, I try to wear at least one really interesting piece every day. It makes even the most "manic" of Mondays fun!

Denise, Saint Louis, MO. I like SA on fb. As for where I'd wear this, I don't think I'd ever take it off. I LOVE this skirt. Would it be too ostentatious to wear it to someone else's wedding? Maybe for Valentine's Day instead :)

This would be awesome with a short tuxedo jacket! I'm Amanda and I'm currently in Costa Mesa, CA!

Ps - you have to tell us where you got your beautiful sweater from! I want one!

That skirt is so gorgeous. I would wear it with my emerald green button-back sweater from H&M and leopard flats, an updo and sparkly jewelry. Or I'd dress it down with a slouchy striped sweater and booties for class.
