Toy Store Decorating

I would love to be a minimalist when it comes to decorating, but I'm just not. It's okay, I've fully accepted my need for quirky clutter, the amount of which seems to be growing in my apartment exponentially. My favorite decorating source: The funky toy store, where I can indulge my need for primary-colored, hands-on Things That Make You Smile without spending too much money (er, usually). Earlier this month, I was thrilled to discover the adorable Romp on 5th Avenue in Park Slope, Brooklyn – absolutely my ideal store. It's where I picked up this balancing cactus game, currently living in its new home on the coffee table. I also desperately covet these Streamliner toy cars, though the $40 price tag is high enough to keep them out of my living room. For now. (Cue boyfriend breathing sigh of relief.)

Next up on my toy-related wish list: Designer Enzo Mari's oversized apple and pear prints from Kid O, another favorite toy store haunt in the West Village. I do have a birthday coming up, you know.
